Who Was Abbas Ibn Firnas?
Abbas Ibn Firnas was a 9th-century Andalusian polymath from Ronda, active in the court of Córdoba. An engineer, poet, astronomer, and one of the first pioneers of flight, he is remembered for attempting to fly centuries before Leonardo da Vinci. His visionary spirit and thirst for knowledge make him a symbol of creativity, wisdom, and courage.
At Bin Firnas Travel, we adopted his name not just as a tribute, but as a source of inspiration. Like him, we dream of crossing horizons, discovering the unknown, and rising above borders—bridging cultures, wisdoms, and hearts through the transformative power of travel.
Our Origins
Bin Firnas Travel was founded in 2017 by our brother Abdulwahid Jiménez Contreras, driven by a deep passion to revive and share the legacy of Al-Andalus with the world. Born into a Spanish Muslim family, Abdulwahid grew up hearing stories of the grandeur of Córdoba, Seville, and Granada. From a young age, he understood that travel could be a powerful tool for memory, dialogue, and personal transformation.
Bin Firnas Travel was born as a pioneering agency offering cultural tours across southern Spain—showcasing not only the monuments of Al-Andalus but also its soul, its people, and its timeless light.
Our Growth
Today, Bin Firnas Travel is a well-established agency with a professional structure and an international network of collaborators. While we continue to follow the footsteps of Al-Andalus, we have also expanded our reach to destinations that share the same spiritual, cultural, and human legacy.
